Bogus: The truth about Francis Leo Marcos Part One

I didn’t hear about Francis Leo Marcos until about three weeks ago when his videos kept popping up on my YouTube recommended videos panel. But even then, I didn’t pay attention to his videos. One look at his ugly face and gaudy attires was enough to make me ignore him. When somebody asked me if I heard about him, I simply responded, “he’s a fake.” It was all written all over his personality.

However, it reached a point when more people were asking me to inquire into his background. Documents, including a letter sent by former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), were emailed to me. I called up some friends here in Metro Manila who might know something about him. One of them told me, yes he knew Francis Leo. “Friends kami,” he said.

As more information came in, I began to see a clearer picture of this individual. I researched his background. There was very little information on Google. It was like I had scraped the bottom of Google and found only a scoop of dirt. But one thing was certain: Francis Leo Marcos was an impostor. Bogus. And to use the term in my friend’s message, “budol-budol” is his field of expertise.

I realized that this man was fooling hundreds of thousands of people with an avalanche of YouTube and Facebook videos on his purported charitable work in giving rice and food items to the poor. He caused a firestorm of controversy at the upscale Green Meadows Subdivision where his Chinese boss had rented three houses when he went around the village taunting residents to bring out their money and contribute to his charitable activities.

It didn’t take long for Francis Leo and his boss to be kicked out of the subdivision.

But his use of the hashtag “Mayaman Challenge” captured the imagination of many people. Apparently, he saw an opportunity to make money on YouTube. He created an account and in a matter of three weeks managed to draw 760,000 subscribers. Every day, he puts out one or two videos about his supposed charitable activities.

I told myself the truth about this man has got to be exposed. And tonight I will be publishing the first episode of my expose, “BOGUS: The Truth about Francis Leo Marcos”. My expose is anchored on the principle that a man who lies about his life story has zero credibility. Behind the facade of a philanthropist is a man with an evil motive. The Pilipino phrase, “Ang sinungaling ay kapatid ng magnanakaw”, is very relevant in this issue.

The first episode exposes the fraud about Francis Leo, whose real name is Norman Mangusin. It wasn’t hard to find out. I just read his own press release in which he claimed to have finished high school at the “National High School of Massachusetts” and college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The first lie was about his high school education. There is no “National High School of Massachusetts.” It’s in the Philippines that we name high schools “National High School”.

Then, how can he possibly get to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology? That is one of the premiere institutions of learning in the United States of America that specializes in science and engineering. With the way he acts and talks, I seriously doubt he has 1% the intellectual acumen required to gain admission to MIT. He is a moron. And I am 101% sure he hasn’t even set foot at the MIT.

Francis Leo Marcos thinks all Filipinos are stupid. Well, he is wrong. And I consider it my obligation to my readers and YouTube viewers to expose the truth about him.
