Soon the truth about real VP will come out

The Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), today (April 2, 2018) began the manual counting of ballots in the contested elections for Vice President in May 2016, with its focus on the three pilot provinces identified by protestor Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. as areas where massive electoral fraud had allegedly taken place.

These provinces — Camarines Sur, Negros Oriental and Iloilo — could open a Pandora’s box of the cheating machinery that the Liberal Party, operating through then Comelec Chairman Andy Bautista, had set into motion to pad the number of votes obtained by incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo.

Robredo was declared the winner by a margin of only 260,000 votes. Marcos claims this narrow margin of victory was caused by massive cheating.

In Iloilo, the Liberal Party machinery engaged in massive vote buying for Mar Roxas as President and Leni Robredo as Vice President on election day to deliver a landslide victory for the LP tandem. There were also reports about PCOS machine manipulation to deliver a “cushion” for Robredo.

Robredo obtained 523,729 while Marcos got only 94,411 based on the official count of Comelec. Such a huge lead obtained by Robredo in Iloilo is highly suspicious, considering that Mar Roxas received only 619,297 votes, or 61.4%. Roxas is considered a local boy as he comes from the neighboring province of Capiz. He was followed by Grace Poe who got 157,252 votes and now President Duterte with 139,357 votes.

The majority vote for Roxas was not only made possible by vote buying, but also PCOS machine manipulation. Still, his rivals got roughly 40% of the votes cast.

Such a huge margin for Robredo was simply unbelievable, political observers here have opined. She was a last-minute candidate for Vice President and was hardly known in Iloilo province. Marcos, on the other hand, has a large following in Iloilo province. His wife is an Araneta, with relatives in Barotac Nuevo and other towns. He also has many supporters in the province.

How could Robredo have gotten a bigger margin over Marcos than her presidential running mate? I believe it was done through vote padding for her while vote shaving against Marcos.

If indeed Robredo did win in Iloilo because of the party machinery, it could not have been that big. As things stand, Robredo’s margin of victory in Iloilo was 429,318. Roxas won by 462,045 against second placer Poe. If we combine the number of votes of Poe and Duterte, Roxas won only by 322,688. That the margins of both LP bets were almost the same over the next contender smacks of fraud. The LP machinery was good, but it was too good to be true.

This scenario could also have taken place in the other two provinces: more votes were added to Robredo while Marcos saw his number of votes shaved. It’s a classic example of dagdag/bawas. Indeed, if we remember the final hours of the national canvass, Marcos had seemed headed for certain victory. At the blink of the eye, the scorecard changed.

Anyway the truth will come out with the start of the manual count. I am confident I will be proven right about what happened in the Vice Presidential race, and not too long from now, the real Vice President will be proclaimed.
