A neglected sector

A neglected sector

The support infrastructure for agriculture is almost non-existent. Their basic needs — farm inputs, technical assistance, irrigation, post-harvest facilities — are neglected. Farming has become a losing proposition for most of the agricultural sector. There is hardly incentive to produce more. Worse, we have companies like Camella Homes (incidentally owned by the chair of the Senate committee on Agriculture), rapidly devouring productive rice lands and converting them to subdivisions. If we don’t act fast enough, we won’t have enough area to produce our food requirements.
